Muğla Milas White Marble Supply

The Muğla-Milas corridor is Turkey's most recognized white marble production region. Known internationally as Milas White, Muğla White and Muğla Lilac, this white-marble group combines high calcite content, low porosity and homogeneous bright tone — a strong technical and logistical alternative to Italian Carrara and Greek Thassos. Sipahi maintains multi-year sourcing relationships with regional producers; export orders route through Aliağa and Marmaris ports.

REGION

The Muğla-Milas Corridor — Aegean White Marble Heartland

The province of Muğla — the Milas, Yatağan and Kavaklıdere district corridor — is Turkey's densest white marble production region. As an extension of the Menderes Massif geology, these deposits host high-calcite fine-crystalline white marble bodies. Historically the region has been an Anatolian marble craftsmanship center — ancient quarry traces are still identifiable. In the modern era Milas white marble is Turkey's highest-volume white-marble export category.

International trade names for the region include Milas White, Muğla White and Muğla Lilac. Milas White is the main bright-white category — pure, low vein, homogeneous tone. Muğla Lilac comes from the same geological corridor with a subtle lilac/mauve tint, preferred for residential bedrooms, spa and boutique-hotel interiors for warm luxury. The high calcite content (~98%+) delivers a technical profile comparable to Italian Bianco Carrara; water absorption ranges 0.10-0.25%, below many Mediterranean white marbles.

Sipahi Marble has sourced from the Muğla-Milas corridor since 1989. Road distance to our Adapazarı Tekeler coordination center is ~700 km — export orders preferentially route through Aliağa (İzmir) or Marmaris ports on FCL sea containers. Blocks, slabs and cut-to-size formats are all coordinated under Sipahi; the technical file bundles the CE Declaration of Performance and LEED submittal package.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Luxury Facade, Interior Flooring, Pool, Monument

Luxury residential and hotel facade

Milas white marble is the Aegean's most recognized facade choice under TS EN 1469. The bright white tone reflects sunlight and creates a luminous facade identity — deployed in 5-star hotels, residences and boutique residentials as an alternative to Italian Bianco Carrara. High calcite content secures long-term panel life and color stability. Mechanical anchor + back-resin fixing is the standard installation method.

Interior flooring and wall cladding

As an interior floor slab under TS EN 12058, Milas white marble is the first-tier choice for lobbies, halls, hammam and spa applications. Low water absorption improves indoor moisture resistance; polished delivers classic luxury aesthetics, honed delivers modern minimalism. Wall cladding is produced at 20-30 mm thickness with mechanical anchor or adhesive systems.

Monument, sculpture and custom carving

Milas white marble delivers high workability for monuments, memorial pedestals and ceremonial installations. Block supply (up to 2.4 x 1.2 x 1.2 m) is offered to sculptors and monument producers. Antique and hand-carved requirements are coordinated with our partner master craftsmen.

Pool, hammam and wet-area applications

Low porosity and natural high whiteness make Milas suitable for pool surrounds, hammam benches and spa interiors. Honed or brushed slip-resistant finishes are preferred for water-contact surfaces. TS EN 12057 modular cut standards apply for pool-perimeter stone modules.

SIPAHI SUPPLY MODEL

Regional Producer + Aliağa/Marmaris Shipment + Adapazarı Coordination

Sipahi Marble runs a four-step business model for Muğla-Milas white marble orders:

  1. Spec review and producer selection: Project spec (volume, dimensions, color homogeneity, vein class, surface finish, delivery schedule) is reviewed; block or slab reservation is opened with a suitable Milas producer. For prestige projects a block photo report is submitted for approval; Muğla White vs. Muğla Lilac variant selection is finalized.
  2. QC and sample matching: Samples from 2-3 producer batches are compared prior to order; tone, vein and crystal-structure matching is finalized. For prestige export orders producer certificates, Certificate of Origin and technical values are packaged for the LEED submittal file.
  3. Cut-to-size coordination (on request): Cut-to-size CNC needs are coordinated at partner fabrication workshops. Surface finish (polished, honed, brushed, sandblasted, antique), edge profile (bullnose, ogee) and drilling steps happen here. Sipahi is the single coordinator.
  4. Shipment + installation (on request): Domestic deliveries move on wooden pallets, export shipments in sea container crates — Aliağa (İzmir) and Marmaris ports are common origins. If installation is requested, Sipahi's partner installation team engages. CE DoP, Certificate of Origin and warranty accompany the shipment documentation.

LOGISTICS

Aliağa Port Proximity — Export Advantage

Distance between the Muğla-Milas corridor and Aegean export ports underpins the material's competitive access to US, EU and Gulf markets. Milas → Aliağa (İzmir) port is ~250 km, Milas → Marmaris port is ~150 km — both routes reach the port in 3-4 hours by road, an FCL container can be delivered same-day.

Sipahi coordinates container planning with the regional producer under three models: (1) Direct-to-port shipment — single-color high-volume orders load directly at Aliağa/Marmaris from the producer, the fastest and most economical route; (2) Adapazarı transfer — mixed color-batch orders are consolidated at Adapazarı Tekeler with a final QC step, then routed via Ambarlı or İzmit; (3) Combined packaging shipment — mixed cut-to-size + slab orders are packaged on the partner-workshop + Adapazarı line before port delivery.

With rising US demand after Coverings 2027, Sipahi has expanded Aliağa-origin Milas white container planning; the İMİB Registry 336480 status supports export incentive schemes. For the EU market, CE Declaration of Performance is auto-prepared — a direct compliance package is issued for UK, German, Italian, French and Spanish buyers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Milas White Marble — 6 Critical Questions

How does Milas white marble compare to Carrara and Thassos?

Milas white shares aesthetic language with Italian Carrara but geologically shows higher calcite content and lower water absorption. Compared to Greek Thassos it is slightly warmer in tone with a broader vein-selection range. On pricing it sits below Carrara and is comparable with Thassos; export logistics from İzmir Aliağa port make Milas an advantaged option. The Muğla Lilac variant carries a soft lilac tone — a preferred sub-group for luxury residential projects.

How does Sipahi source from the Muğla-Milas corridor?

Sipahi maintains multi-year sourcing relationships with producers across the Muğla-Milas, Yatağan and Kavaklıdere corridor. Once an order is confirmed, project specs (volume, color homogeneity, vein class, delivery schedule) are shared with the regional producer; block/slab reservation is opened and, on request, a block photo report is submitted for customer approval. Road distance from the region to our Adapazarı Tekeler center is ~700 km — FCL sea shipment is the preferred route for export.

Is there a minimum order?

For domestic orders even small residential line items (kitchen countertops, bathroom panels) are handled. For export orders one full container (~20-24 tons or 300-400 m²) is the economic floor. For prestige and high-volume hotel/residence orders we run 5+ container production plans. Samples and trade panels move on LTL.

Block, slab or cut-to-size — which format fits?

All three are available. (1) Block supply: preferred by importer-fabricators and monument-sculpture producers, up to 2.4 x 1.2 x 1.2 m. (2) Slab supply: 2400 x 1200 mm and 3200 x 1600 mm standard formats for fabricators wanting ready material. (3) Cut-to-size: cutting, surface treatment and packaging to project dimensions coordinated at partner workshops; Sipahi remains the single point of contact. Export orders travel with CE Declaration of Performance and Certificate of Origin.

What is the difference between Muğla Lilac and Muğla White?

Muğla White is the main white category — pure bright white, low vein, homogeneous tone. Muğla Lilac is a variant from the same geological corridor with a subtle lilac/mauve tint — preferred for residential bedrooms, spa and boutique-hotel interiors seeking warm luxury. Milas White is a broader trade name covering both Muğla White and adjacent white groups. Tone definition and sample matching are critical prior to order — regional tone differences are documented in the LEED submittal file.

Delivery lead time and freight?

Road distance from Adapazarı Tekeler to Milas is ~700 km; typical domestic lead time is 5-8 business days — depending on producer stock and order size. For export, material moves out from Aliağa (İzmir) or Marmaris port on an FCL container within 3-4 weeks; interim transfer to Sipahi coordination center is optional. Cut-to-size fabrication adds 10-20 business days. Small domestic countertop orders use LTL trucking.
