Turkish Marble Quarry Network — Muğla, Denizli, Bilecik, Afyon Supply

Turkey hosts more than 40% of the world's natural stone reserves at global scale (source: General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration — MTA — natural stone inventory). Main quarry regions: (1) Muğla — white marble (Muğla White, Milas White), heavily clustered in inner Aegean; (2) Denizli — travertine export capital (Denizli Beige, Antique Travertine), Pamukkale basin; (3) Bilecik — beige/cream marble (Bilecik Beige), southern Marmara; (4) Afyon — dendritic and green quarries (Afyon White, Afyon Green), inner Aegean; (5) Balıkesir / Bursa / Konya — granite and specialty stone. According to İMİB statistics, these five regions carry 75%+ of Turkish marble export volume.

Muğla White: high whiteness index (CIE L* ≥90), homogeneous fine veining, preferred for interior wall and flooring. High visibility in cladding applications. Standard SKUs in 2400×1200 and 3200×1600 mm slab format; cut-to-size cladding on request. Bilecik Beige: warm beige tone (near RAL 1015), medium vein, interior and exterior cladding alignment, ADA-compliant honed finish preferred. Muğla White is dolomite mineralogy, Bilecik Beige is calcite-dolomite mix. Water absorption (TS EN 13755): both below 0.5%. Compressive strength (ASTM C170): Muğla White ≥60 MPa, Bilecik Beige ≥55 MPa (typical values).

Marble is metamorphosed calcite/dolomite; homogeneous appearance, polished finish highly reflective. Travertine is sedimentary in origin, with characteristic porous texture; sold either natural or resin-filled. Decision criteria: (1) aesthetics — travertine warm-organic, marble cool-modern; (2) tolerance — marble handles ±0.5 mm comfortably, large travertine slabs may require filling; (3) freeze-thaw (EN 12371) — travertine carries risk on exterior facade, marble's calcite structure is more durable; (4) LEED — resin-filled travertine requires separate HPD, raw travertine is advantaged. Denizli travertine is the world leader (İMİB 2024 export data).

LEED v4.1 MR Credit 3 (Sourcing of Raw Materials) requires Chain-of-Custody documentation. Sipahi's standard package: (1) quarry origin region (region + partner count; the quarry firm name is not disclosed publicly, but is shared in the submittal in traceable format), (2) raw material extraction date and block/slab reference number, (3) workshop processing date and process, (4) shipment container number and route (Sakarya → Mersin/İstanbul port → destination port), (5) İMİB member firm certificate (Registry 336480), (6) customs export documentation. The document package is prepared automatically for each export order.

According to İMİB (Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association) 2024 statistics, Turkish natural stone exports closed above USD 1.9 billion. Main destination markets: US, China, UK, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Germany.
