Elazığ, in the Eastern Anatolia region, is the source area for one of the
Turkish marble sector's most recognized classical varieties — Vişne
Marble (Cherry Marble). The geological deposits are iron-oxide- and
organic-rich limestone/marble bodies; this composition produces the region's
distinctive dark red-cherry color. Black and white calcite veining is the
signature classical pattern — worldwide this color-and-pattern combination
is the Elazığ Cherry hallmark.
Known internationally as Elazığ Cherry, this marble is compared with
Italian Rosso Levanto and Rosso Verona. It stands among the Turkish marble
sector's prestige export varieties; used widely in US, Middle East, Far East
and European markets for mosques, palace restorations, luxury residential and
prestige commercial projects. In classical Ottoman and Seljuk architecture
this dark red tone is a defining aesthetic element.
Sipahi Marble sources from the Elazığ region through direct producer
relationships. Road distance to Adapazarı Tekeler is ~1,100 km — one of
Turkey's long corridors. But because there is no Turkish alternative in
Elazığ Cherry's world-class character, the value-cost balance is planned
project-specifically. For export orders, material can be routed directly to
Mersin or İskenderun port — an economical southern route.
