Marble is a weight-limited cargo, not a volume-limited one: a 20ft container carries approximately 28 tons and a 40ft container approximately 48 tons of stone before hitting the container's weight ceiling — well short of a full volumetric load. This means an initial order can combine slab, tile and cut-to-size product in a single container without paying for unused capacity.
As of July 24, 2026, imports from Turkey are subject to a Section 301 "forced-labor" tariff of approximately 12.5%, layered on top of the base HTS duty on marble and travertine products (roughly 10%–24% depending on product classification under HTS 6802.91 — cut-to-size, polished panels typically fall at the lower end; carved or sculpted work at the higher end). Buyers should plan pricing around a combined duty range of approximately 20%–25%, not the 5%–10% range often assumed. A 25-state legal challenge to the Section 301 tariff was filed August 3, 2026 and remains unresolved — rates should be confirmed with a licensed customs broker before any binding quote.
