Is Turkish white marble a real Carrara alternative?
Yes, on many technical and aesthetic parameters. Milas White (Muğla) offers values in whiteness index (CIE L*), density, compressive strength and low water absorption that are comparable with Carrara ranges. Aesthetically, Milas White's fine crystalline structure resembles Carrara Statuario, and Marmara White's veined character resembles Carrara Venatino. In price-performance terms, Turkish white marble is a strong competitor to Carrara in US, Gulf and Far East prestige projects, with growing market share.
Which variety comes from which region?
Muğla-Milas — Milas White (crystal white, high whiteness ≥90 L*) for prestige facade and hotel lobby. Balıkesir Marmara Island — Marmara White (veined classic) for restoration and artistic interior. Aydın-Söke and İzmir Bergama-Kozak — soft-veined and cream-transitional Aegean white for upscale residential and commercial. Denizli — light cream-white in the economical-to-prestige segment. Sipahi coordinates the region-variety combination based on aesthetic target, whiteness requirement and budget tier.
Is large block (2.7 x 1.3 x 1.3 m) supply feasible?
Yes. Muğla-Milas is known for large block production; bookmatch vein reservation for prestige facade programs can be pre-secured. Standard-to-large blocks are also available from Marmara Island and Aydın. For large block orders, early contact at project kickoff is important; vein direction and color homogeneity are pre-specified.
How does Sipahi source Turkish white marble?
Sipahi is not a quarry operator, and does not run its own CNC workshop. Sipahi = natural stone supplier + coordinator + fabrication partner network. We maintain long-standing producer relationships in Muğla-Milas, Marmara Island, Aydın, İzmir Bergama and Denizli. Once ordered, block/slab reservation is made by region and variety; material reaches our Adapazarı Tekeler center, is inspected, and cut-to-size CNC needs are coordinated through fabrication partners.
How do you manage staining and yellowing risk on white marble?
Two main risks on white marble: (1) acidic stains (lemon, vinegar, wine, cleaning chemicals) — reaction with the calcium carbonate surface; (2) long-term iron/organic stains. Management: selection of a low-absorption variety (≤0.3% water absorption) at project start, quality impregnation (protective sealer) after installation, and a client care guide (pH-neutral cleaner, immediate wipe-up of spills). Periodic sealer renewal every 2-3 years is recommended on prestige projects.
Is antique vein matching feasible for restoration projects?
Marmara Island (Prokonnesian) is referenced as a source region for restoration of Ottoman and Roman-era structures. Sipahi coordinates supply of stone close to antique vein character for restoration specialists; vein color and direction are approved beforehand via sample photos. For restoration projects approved by Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü (Turkish Directorate General of Foundations) and the Ministry of Culture, technical file support is provided.
Can Turkish white marble be used in LEED-certified prestige projects?
Yes. Turkish white marble can be included in submittals under LEED v4/v4.1 MR (Materials & Resources) credits with proper product evidence; sourcing from producer lines with existing EPD is prioritized. Sipahi adds quarry-producer-Adapazarı-site chain-of-custody tracking records to the project file.
What are export minimums and prestige project scales?
For export, one full container (~18-22 tons for white marble, ~250-350 m²) is the economic floor. Prestige villa projects typically 2-4 containers, hotel lobby programs 5-15 containers, hotel tower facade programs 20-50+ containers. Unit m² cost decreases with volume; block reservation on large programs guarantees vein homogeneity.
