TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Facade · Kitchen Counter · Stair Tread · Commercial Flooring · Competitive Market

Facade cladding (TS EN 1469) — large-volume programs

Turkish granite is a reference material in large-scale facade applications thanks to high durability + low maintenance + freeze-thaw resistance. Nemrut Black and Nero Marina for black facades, Imperial Red for prestige accents, and Diyarbakır Grey for economical large-volume cladding are typical choices. Stainless-steel mechanical anchors + minimum 3 cm thickness target 50+ year facade service life. Widely used on Turkish domestic airport, university and municipal building facades.

Kitchen counter + island counter

Nero Marina, Imperial Red and Verde Yosemite granite classes provide high durability + stain resistance + prestige aesthetic for luxury residential and prestige villa kitchen counters + islands. Polished finish is the classic choice; honed finish for modern minimalist. Cut-to-size CNC is required — coordinated at fabrication partner workshops. Antibacterial surface + heat resistance make granite a safer kitchen alternative than marble.

Stair treads + commercial flooring

Granite is systematically preferred in stair treads for its high abrasion resistance. Nemrut Black and Diyarbakır Grey are economical + durable choices for large-building stair treads (residential towers, business centers, public buildings). In high-traffic commercial flooring (shopping malls, airports, bus terminals), flamed or bush-hammered finish provides slip-resistant texture. Honed finish suits medium-traffic.

Competitive market: Italian + Brazilian + Indian granite comparison

Turkish granite competes in the international market with Italian Nero Marquina (classic European prestige), Brazilian granite (large slabs + wide palette) and Indian granite (economical-segment leader). Turkish positioning: (a) Nero Marina + Imperial Red prestige black/red classes offer Italian-alternative unit-cost advantage; (b) Türkiye's geography provides freight advantage for Europe + Gulf + MENA markets; (c) Turkish granite export is a growing segment — mega-program investments are rising.

SIPAHI BUSINESS MODEL

Sample → Shop Drawing → Fabrication Partner CNC + Final Inspection → Shipment

Sipahi Marble is not a quarry operator, and does not run its own CNC workshop. Sipahi = natural stone supplier + coordinator + fabrication partner network. The following four-step business model applies to granite orders:

  1. Sample and variety selection: client project (variety preference, use, quantity, dimensions, surface finish) is reviewed; 15x15 or 30x30 cm samples are shipped for Nero Marina / Imperial Red / Verde Yosemite / Nemrut Black / Diyarbakır Grey. For prestige projects, 60x60 cm trade panels and 60x120 cm counter samples for kitchen tops are submitted for client approval.
  2. Shop drawing and block/slab reservation: shop drawings capture dimensions, edge detail (straight, bevel, bullnose), corner joints, cutouts and slot details. Block or slab reservation is arranged through Nemrut, Diyarbakır, Elazığ or Erzurum producer contacts.
  3. Fabrication partner CNC + Adapazarı final inspection: Cut-to-size CNC needs (kitchen counters, stair treads, facade panel sizing) are coordinated at partner workshops. Thanks to granite's hardness + abrasion resistance, CNC work is slower than marble but the result is durable. At the Adapazarı Tekeler center, dimensional tolerance, surface quality (polished/honed/flamed/bush-hammered) and color homogeneity are inspected.
  4. Packing + shipment: Domestic delivery on wooden pallet + corner protection; export shipment via sea container. Granite density is higher than marble — container weight ~24-27 tons. Certificate of origin, CE declaration, ASTM test reports and where applicable LEED submittal evidence accompany shipping documents.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Turkish Granite Supply — 8 Key Questions

Where are the granite production regions in Türkiye?

The leading granite production regions of Türkiye: (a) Nemrut (Van, Bitlis) — quarry source for the Nero Marina and Nemrut Black black granite classes; (b) Diyarbakır-Karacadağ — center of grey granite (Diyarbakır Grey) and basalt production; (c) Erzurum — Imperial Red red granite; (d) Elazığ — Verde Yosemite green granite and Cherry marble region. Turkish granite export is a growing segment — positioned on the world market alongside Italian, Brazilian and Indian granite.

What is the position of Turkish granite against Italian + Brazilian + Indian granite?

Turkish granite takes different positions against three main competitors: Italian granite (Nero Marquina, Verde Marina) in the classic European prestige position — Turkish Nero Marina + Imperial Red offer similar quality + unit-cost advantage. Brazilian granite has an advantage in large slabs + wide palettes — Turkish granite is positioned in small-to-mid prestige projects. Indian granite leads the economical segment — Turkish Diyarbakır Grey is competitive in large-volume economical projects. Türkiye's geographic position provides freight advantage for Europe + Gulf + MENA markets.

What is the main difference between granite and marble?

Granite — igneous volcanic formation, high hardness (Mohs 6-7), high compressive strength (≥150 MPa), very low water absorption (0.1-0.4%), high abrasion resistance; ideal for exterior + heavy-traffic flooring + kitchen counters. Marble — metamorphic formation, medium hardness (Mohs 3-4), medium compressive strength (≥50 MPa), medium water absorption; ideal for prestige interior + accent + luxury bathrooms. For kitchen counters, granite is safer than marble in stain + heat resistance; in prestige aesthetics, marble vein + white ground sets the luxury reference. Selection follows project needs.

Is granite facade cladding long-lasting?

Very durable. Turkish granite's volcanic formation yields high density (2.70-2.85 g/cm³), high compressive strength (≥150 MPa) and very low water absorption (0.1-0.4%). Suitable for exterior facades in all climate zones (Russia northern +50 freeze-thaw cycles, GCC summer +45°C, Red Sea salt-laden coast). Stainless-steel mechanical anchors + minimum 3 cm thickness target 50+ year facade service life. 30+ year reference durability is observed on Türkiye airport, university and municipal building facades. Maintenance requirement is lower than marble.

Why is granite preferred for kitchen counters?

Granite offers five critical advantages for kitchen counters: (1) High hardness — excellent scratch resistance; (2) Low absorption — very slow stain penetration; (3) Heat resistance — hot pans can be placed directly; (4) Antibacterial surface — safer for hygiene (vs. porous marble); (5) Long-lasting — 50+ years with correct maintenance. Nero Marina and Imperial Red are prestige luxury-residential choices; Diyarbakır Grey is the economical segment. Polished finish is the classic bright choice; honed is modern matte. Annual protective sealer is recommended (not mandatory, conservative).

How is granite cut-to-size CNC work handled?

Sipahi does not have its own CNC workshop. Granite cut-to-size needs (kitchen-counter specific dimensions, stair-tread form cuts, facade panel sizing, corner-joint detail) are coordinated at fabrication partner CNC workshops. Shop drawings are prepared → CNC work is performed at a partner workshop → the product arrives at the Adapazarı Tekeler supply coordination center → dimensional tolerance, surface quality (polished/honed/flamed), color homogeneity are re-inspected by Sipahi → shipment. Thanks to granite's hardness + abrasion resistance, CNC work is slower than marble but the result is durable.

What is the minimum export container quantity and quotation process?

For Turkish granite export, one full 20' container (~24-27 tons or 300-400 m² of 2 cm slab — granite is denser than marble) is the economic floor. For large facade programs (airports, universities, prestige residential towers) 5-20 containers; for mega public building programs 20-100 container series are planned. Quotation process: WhatsApp/email project info (variety, use, dimensions, surface finish, climate zone) → written USD/EUR offer within 24-48 hours → samples + trade panels → client approval → shop drawings → block reservation → fabrication-partner CNC → Adapazarı final inspection → shipment.

Can Turkish granite be used in LEED and BREEAM projects?

Yes. Turkish granite can be included in submittal files for MR (Materials & Resources) credits under LEED v4/v4.1 with proper product evidence; granite is advantaged in life-cycle analysis (LCA) thanks to low-maintenance + long-life properties. Supply from producer lines holding EPDs is prioritized. For BREEAM projects, quarry-producer-Adapazarı-site Chain-of-Custody records are attached to project files for traceability. Detailed sustainability requirements should be specified at project kickoff.
