What is a Mechanically Anchored System?

A mechanically anchored system is a modern façade technique where marble slabs are attached to the building via stainless steel anchors rather than adhesive. The system consists of a load-bearing steel sub-frame fixed to reinforced concrete or masonry walls, an insulation layer, an air cavity and the outer marble cladding. This layered structure delivers superior structural safety and energy performance compared with traditional bonded façades.

Sipahi's Approach to Façade Engineering

Every façade project begins with a static engineering review: anchor plane, load distribution and seismic calculations.

We use AISI 304 or 316 grade stainless steel anchors; 316 is preferred for coastal and heavy climate regions.

Marble slab thickness is typically 3 cm, increasing to 4 cm based on façade height and panel size.

Joint widths of 6–10 mm sealed with flexible silicone ensure watertight performance.

Each panel features 4 anchor points, secured via undercut anchor or clamp systems.

Which Marble Types Are Used in Façades?

The most frequently selected stones in our façade applications include Mugla White (pure white appearance), Afyon Sugar (cream tones), Burdur Beige (warm tones), Travertine (classic textured), Granite (G682, Star Galaxy for darker tones) and imported varieties such as Calacatta, Carrara and Crema Marfil for premium projects. Stones used in façades must have certified TS/EN ratings for porosity, freeze–thaw resistance and weathering performance.

Marble Façade Application Process

1. Site survey: on-site measurement, photographic documentation, material recommendation.

2. Engineering: static calculation, anchor plane design, materials list.

3. Workshop slab preparation: CNC cutting, edge finishing, anchor channel routing.

4. Sub-structure assembly: positioning of stainless steel consoles and T-profiles on the façade.

5. Slab installation: bottom-up mechanical anchoring, joint width control.

6. Joint sealing and inspection: silicone sealing, plane verification, cleaning, handover.

For projects across Turkey, indicative pricing ranges from 4,500 to 12,000 TRY per m² (2027 levels). Warranty and Maintenance

All façade applications carry a 2-year workmanship warranty and a 10-year warranty on the anchor system from the manufacturer. Maintenance involves yearly surface cleaning with neutral pH cleaner, joint inspection every 5 years and silicone renewal as required. Properly maintained marble façades deliver 25–30 years of trouble-free service.
